Are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires good? Well, naturally, since we’re talking about the premium brand Goodyear here, it’s easy to say yes. However, like any product, brand isn’t always everything—and tires are no exception.
So, we did some testing ourselves, and we were definitely blown away. As expected, Goodyear delivered yet again another superb summer tire off its catalog. That said, let’s see what makes this performance model so great in this Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric review.

Notable Features of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
Before anything else, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric was originally a max-performance summer tire. But as time passed, the tire took on many forms over the years, along with some tweaks and improvements here and there to the design after every release.
Notable examples are, of course, the flagship F1 Eagle Asymmetric, which is on its 6th iteration, the F1 Eagle Asymmetric All-Season, and the Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV A/T. However, we’ll be focusing more on the original tire for this review.
And as always, we’ll start with the tire features, courtesy of Goodyear’s proprietary technology.
In terms of tread design, the tire features four circumferential grooves for optimum hydroplaning resistance and noise suppression. These treads were also tweaked a bit from the F1 Asymmetric 5 to improve rolling resistance.
This ensures that the treads wear out evenly, improving the tire’s durability. Moreover, due to the tweaks, the F1 Asymmetric is also compatible with electric vehicles.
2. Dry performance
The tire comes equipped with an adaptive contact patch and optimized cavity, which drastically improves traction and maneuverability on dry roads. Because of this, the tire is simply superb on the tracks.
It bites the road intensely on the tarmac, which makes cornering essentially a cinch. As for braking distance, these tires never slip, and expect one of the shortest braking distances you’ll ever see on a performance tire on dry surfaces.
3. Wet performance
The F1 Asymmetric 6 features Wet Braking Pro technology for wet roads, which is made up of microscopic compounds and resins that also enhance braking distances. However, you’ll find that braking distance can sometimes be iffy and inconsistent.
While you’ll have more success on roads and highways, driving on wet and slippery racing tracks can feel muddy at times. Although they’re not at all terrible, we expected more from a premium performance tire like this one.
For everyday drivers, the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric will feel a bit noisy and bumpy, but this is expected due to its status as a performance tire. Among sporty designs, though, it’s certainly above average.
When it comes to specs, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 offers a plethora of sizes from 17 to 21 inches. For a more in-depth spec sheet, we’ve decided to make a table below for a 225/40R18 size.

6. Price and warranty
We all know that price can vary depending on the size of the tire, but regardless, expect premium costs for a premium product like the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. For context, a 225/40R18-size tire can cost around $134.
As for warranty, expect to be disappointed because, as of now, it simply doesn’t have one. So, be sure to consider this when buying new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 tires.
7. Pros and Cons
Which is better, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 vs Michelin Pilot Sport 5?
Both tires are in the high-performance market, so it’s definitely a fair comparison. However, both options specialize in different areas. So, it entirely depends on you, the driver, and what you’re looking for in a tire.
For instance, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 excels in wet conditions and ride comfort, while the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 performs much better in terms of dry surfaces, noise reduction, and rolling resistance.
Does the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 run flat?
No. However, if you still want to enjoy the F1 Asymmetric’s design and features, Goodyear released a zero-pressure variant called the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 ROF. This tire is definitely a great choice for those expecting to ride long distances.
Is the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric Tire Worth it?
Well, it entirely depends on how you define a quality tire, as you’ll need to consider your driving needs. If you need a performance tire on a dry racing track, then look no further than the F1 Asymmetric.
However, for a daily driver and average commuters, we simply can’t recommend it due to its price and non-existent warranty. You’re simply better off with an all-season choice like the Goodyear Assurance Weatherready.
So, are Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires good? Well, if you’re looking for a great set of rubbers to run some laps on the track on a sunny day, then these tires are definitely a must-have due to the incredible braking distance and maneuverability.
As such, Goodyear has definitely done it again with their latest iteration of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric. However, you really can’t fault us if we wanted more from the tire, especially in terms of wet performance and warranty.
