Transforming Urban Mobility Initiative

“On the first day of Habitat III (17th October 2016) in a short packed event inside the main conference venue the German Federal Ministry for EconomicDevelopment and Co-Operation (BMZ) launched their “Transforming Urban Mobility Initiative” (TUMI).  In her opening speech Dr. T. Roediger-Vowerk Deputy Director General BMZ said that Germany is committed to working for “a transformation of urban mobility” that should include safe dedicated space for walking and cycling, modern self-driving vehicles and a strong social dimension making future cities liveable and safe. To deliver such a vision will require a different approach to planning and building cities so Germany, as part of its contribution to the Quito Implementation Plan< lementation-plan/transformativ e-urban-mobility-initiative-tumi/#joining-list > , is launching the TUMI.
