Movin’On, a long lasting PPMC partner alongside SLOCAT Partnership, had to cancel the physical annual Movin’On summit due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was originally planned in Montreal early June. But Movin’On partners decided to keep the momentum and therefore selected some key Movin’On “working sessions” to shift them into a virtual –but highly collaborative– format: the Movin’On Digital Meetings, held on June 3 and 4. All information regarding those past events can be found here: https://www.movinonconnect.com/
On June 3, the event was kicked-off by Florent Menegaux, Michelin CEO and Movin’On President, Selwin Hart, Assistant Secretary General for Climate Action at the United Nations, Julie Sweet, CEO of Accenture and Patrick Koller, CEO of Faurecia. They highlighted the importance of sustainable mobility and the key role the Movin’On ecosystem has to play in it –watch this opening video.
1,600 participants attended the presentations of 5 selected “Community Sessions” on the 3 Movin’On following themes:
Among those five live sessions, PPMC would like to highlight the “Virtual Pilot Community Sessions” on Zero-Emission Freight Vehicles led by the Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA) (the coalition of the “3 Cs” -Countries, Cities and Companies, co-founded by PPMC in 2018), EV100/The Climate Group and CALSTART/Drive to Zero:
Where are the Zero-emission Freight Vehicles?
Challenges and opportunities to speed vehicle availability
This Movin’On Digital Session brought together a select group of policymakers, manufacturers, fleet managers, supply chain operators, energy providers, academics, experts and finance specialists to discuss the challenges and opportunities to speed ZEFV availability. A highly interactive format featuring Maruxa Cardama, Secretary General of SLOCAT Partnership as Master of Ceremony, provided for collaborative work and actionable solutions: Watch session here.
Following an inspirational Opening Forum, 5 interactive breakout ateliers addressed some 50 experts in small group discussions to deep dive into focused topics: Manufacturing, Corporate Fleets, Policies, Infrastructure and Financing. Main learnings and key-findings were captured in a Final Forum and will feed in the next steps. This Movin’On Session was indeed the first of a series initiated by the TDA, The Climate Group/EV100 and CALSTART/Drive to Zero to accelerate the development of the zero-emission commercial vehicle market and foster supply-demand dialogues. Results from the whole series will be conveyed to high-level decision makers and eventually to the COP-26 in November 2021.
During the Movin’On Digital Meetings, a new collaborative public-private Community Session was launched, led by PPMC’s partner SLOCAT Partnership around the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) submitted by Parties with respect to the Paris Agreement. This new collaboration thrust between both PPMC co-founders (Movin’On and SLOCAT Partnership) will demonstrate their capacity to attract key stakeholders to get the business sector on board, supporting the revision of NDCs and their implementation.
If you are interested in participating in this Community Session, please contact Talya Enriquez Romano, Director Membership and Institutional Relations at SLOCAT.
All the information regarding the Community Sessions launched during the Movin’On Digital Meetings can be found on the Movin’On Community Wall.
The next meeting dates of the ecosystem are already known: the Movin’On Summit 2021 edition will take place in Montreal from June 1 to 3, 2021 on the McGill University campus.
