This event will highlight how cities can scale up action on urban mobility as an essential step to
sustainable urban development and low carbon transport – illustrated by the experience of
Ibagué, Colombia and other Latin American cities.
The overview will illustrate the benefits of climate mitigation action on urban mobility in Latin
The overview of the newly updated SUMP methodology shows cities how to catalyse long term
and meaningful action on urban mobility and highlight the climate benefits.
The examples from Ibagué will illustrate the importance of broad stakeholder participation in
effective, long term action on sustainable urban mobility and the contribution pilot projects can
play in catalysing change.
The event will include a space for questions and debate and before closing will include an
overview of the support tools and resources available to cities in Latin America to support the
scaling up low carbon urban mobility solutions.
