In the months leading up to the Habitat III, the Habitat III Secretariat organized a series of regional and thematic meetings.
- African Regional Meeting: The African Regional Meeting took place in Abuja, Nigeria from 24th to 26th of February and the SLoCaT Partnership was represented by Ramon Cruz from ITDP. Ramon together with a few other delegates worked hard to integrate transport references in the Abuja Declaration, and thanks to their effort the final declaration makes 2 references to transport and mobility: “Prioritize planning and investment for sustainable urban mobility systems that link people, places and economic opportunities” and “Ensuring affordable basic services including clean water, sanitation, energy, health, education and sustainable transport and employment by all citizens in order to realize their full potential, especially youth, women and people in vulnerable groups”.
- European Regional Meeting: The European Regional Meeting for Habitat III took place in Prague, Czech Republic from 16th to 18th of March. SLoCaT was represented by SLoCaT Secretary General Cornie Huizenga at the meeting and SLoCaT members ECF and UITP, together with Polis Network organized a side event titled Sustainable and Clean Mobility for the New Urban Agenda. In addition, on March 19th, SLoCaT Partnership was invited to conduct a transport session at the General Assembly of Partners.
